SOMEBODY THAT I USED TO KNOW - GOTYE
Now and then I think of all the times you screwed me over
But had me believing it was always something that I’d done
And I don’t wanna live that way
Reading into every word you say
You said that you could let it go
And I wouldn’t catch you hung up
On somebody that you used to know…
But you didn’t have to cut me off
Make out like it never happened
And that we were nothing
And I don’t even need your love
But you treat me like a stranger
And that feels so rough
Cool Acne shoes!

As some of you may have noticed, I’ve been fairly MIA over the past few days, and with a good reason! On Saturday 21st, I was kindly invited to 309 Oxford Street to witness the opening of ALDO’s newest and biggest flagship concept store in the world, that spanned an impressive 3,983 square foot layout and a massive 7,508 square foot stockroom that holds over 35,000 pairs of shoes - more commonly known as absolute footwear heaven to you and I.
The store, filled with great music and even greater footwear has been redesigned in an utterly stylish but undoubtedly practical manner, with a major part of the redesign including a hand-painted print installation by Parisian design duo Anna Ahonen and Katarina Lamberg of A&L that completely and utterly transforms the flagship from floor to ceiling.
The interactive event involved customers shopping to the beat of Amber Atherton and The Work It girls’ DJ sets, with the constant (welcomed) bombardment of retro candies and fruity popsicles that, along with the obvious appeal of wall-to-wall shoes, kept the customers coming. And as if that wasn’t enough, visitors were also treated to crazy complimentary manicures by The Illustrated Nail and were entered into an hourly ALDO giveaway, offering customers the chance to win a £100 giftcard, on the hour, every hour. Passers by also got in on the action with the ever-friendly ALDO team giving out discount cards and iPhone cases, that I managed to snag for a few of my lucky readers to get their hands on.
Overall, the day was a complete and utter success and I can’t thank ALDO and Surgery PR enough for putting on a truly fantastic event. The 7 hour journey to London was worth every minute and I’ll be sure to stop by again soon - make sure you do too!
